Distinction - Reiss Profile
For several decades various motivational theories have been offering companies helpful explanations on issues of staff motivation, but have often given little practical help and action instructions on how the theoretical approaches can actively be used for daily operations. What do I do now with the statements that were made? Where do I best start and why?
When the behaviour of an employee is described, it is shown how he behaves and how he fulfils his duties. What is often not given is a justification for what causes an employee to act the way that he does. Here the model of the 16 basic desires and the Reiss Profile (which is derived from that) offer a "first-time" action-oriented approach.
The Reiss profile explains why someone does something, by identifying the needs behind the action. "They" are responsible for making people act in the same manner over and over again.
By this the Reiss Profile captures those values and motives that give meaning and significance to people's lives, and which clarify what drives people and what they are willing to permanently and dedicatedly make an effort for.
To many people dealing closely with the Reiss Profile, it seems like a long-awaited revolution.
Quite honestly, it is a revolution in contrast to what has been previously taught and learned; also because there is the willingness to rethink traditional views and compare them to the Reiss Profile.
By recording action-, power- and motive-patterns of managers and employees the Reiss Profile offers you a new and broader understanding of employee motivation and employee satisfaction in the company.
The focus is on the "individuality" of the individual, without making a classification into different "type groups."
