What distinguishes us humans?

Reiss Profile What distinguishes humans from each other is how strong or how weak a motive/desire is and what priority the respective motive/desire has in the life of a person. Thus, the Reiss profile creates a motive structure for each individual.

Examples:

  • What percentage of the time you spent awake do you spend thinking?
  • How strong is your striving (in %) for making or maintaining contact with people?
  • How important is it to you (in %) to move actively, to exercise and be physically active (e.g. sports)?

Everyone has in his/her individuality different ideas and values, which he wants to live out in order to be happy and to feel satisfied.

If the desired or wanted motive varies over a certain period of time in everyday life (depending on the intensity of basic desire, etc.), every person feels more or less strongly about the demand that the motive requires from him, etc.

The 16 basic desires are "final motives" and "intrinsic motivators" of human action. That is to say people try to satisfy the need behind a motive/desire. If that works out, people are happy, able to perform and ultimately "satisfied".

As intrinsic motivators the 16 basic desires strongly drive peoples' actions; special emphasis is put on the highly and the lowly distinct motives in a person's profile that affect his actions and influence his personality.

As a result of the intrinsic character of motivation, once a motive has been satisfied it immediately releases new motivating force and causes a new (related) action. Therefore human action is not a "means" in order to get something, but an "end it itself".

Thus commitment and performance of staff are at the highest level when the conditions and opportunities in the workplace and in the working environment give employees the possibility to individually satisfy their least and most prominent desires.

The Reiss Profile supports companies and executives in the process of recognising favourable and adverse factors in leadership behaviour of superiors and in the behaviour of employees and colleagues as observed during daily operations.

In contrast to many other motivational theories the Reiss Profile and the underlying motivation theory provide clear and exact action instructions for day-to-day operations in management and cooperation.

In addition it offers clear direction on private matters such as partnership counselling, child education, career choice, etc.
